There's no crying..

Rest Day

CrossFit is designed to help people 'move with excellence.'
It's utilized my many  - but they usually fall into 3 categories of people:
1)  people who are fitness oriented
2)  military/police/firefighters
3)  athletes
You know where you fall in these categories, but let us focus on #3.
What sport or active hobby would you most like to learn and why. (For the athletes, it can't be one that you already play or participated in.) Ex: soccer, tennis, golf, football, racquetball, dancing, curling, volleyball, lawn darts (do they even exist anymore?), etc...

Post thoughts to comments.

I'll say this about golf. I hadn't played in two years. My strength was such that if you used a 9 iron i'd use a six or seven. Well I played the other day, had my lowest score ever, and was absolutely crushing the ball! Not that I'm a Spartan or anything, but I would definitely say that since starting crossfit I'm twice as strong as I always was, and would even say I'm strong compared to the average guy. So this crossfit shit actually works!

i play soccer and crossfit has helped me a lot. i have gained some weight and have become much stronger.

but if i were to learn a sport, it would be football. mainly because i know that i wouldnt get crushed as i would have a few months ago.

and although i have never heard of lawn darts, i looked it up bc i wanted to see what they were...they arent made anymore bc 3 kids died..so... yeah

Curling for sure. I haven't done it in a long time, but I would be curious what my max preacher curl was ;)

Just kidding, but I haven't thought much about sports with my knees seemingly always f'd up. If I were to pick something, it would be baseball / softball. Relatively easy on the knees and both my boys play. So, when's the OTG Softball league starting up?

I would like to test my indurance on my wrestling/ground fighting skills since starting CrossFit. My "wind" isn't by far the best out there but it has definately improved from what it was before, when I used to wrestle. Any body wanna strap on some tights and give it ago!!

If anyones interested, I'm going to Tony Blauers Personal Defense Readiness camp Aug. 14-16 in Virginia Beach. Should be fun. Coach Glassman will be there and there's WODs every day.

As seen at Taylor's I think we all have the "dancing" down pretty good. If anyone wants to break it down let me know cause I'm in. Ha, ha! Seriously I would like to learn volleyball. Preferably on the beach in one of those sports bras and speedos like in the olympics. Kidding! I have a question for everyone...when is our next "night out". I am yearning to get a little "crazy!"

I say we all go see Hangover. If you haven't seen it yet, I heard it is hilarious. Watch Hangover, then go tie one on.

I personally would like to get better at flip cup and beer pong:-) I'm kind of kidding....
I've ridden and shown horses my whole life. Nothing like a 1200lb animal under you jumping really big things! Outside of CF I think its the only sport I will always do.

Kind of kidding Leanna? Sounds good to me! I'll even sponsor a beer pong tournament at my house. Ha,ha! Ahh the memories of the good old red solo cup!

Well I did Griff today, and finished with 15:48. Now let's keep in mind I did Griff immediately after cutting the grass (2 hours of fighting with that lovely project). Anyway I liked the WOD I think if I wasn't already wrecked from the grass I would have gotten a much better time.

So as far as a sport. I tried a lot of sports like, boxing, kickboxing, stick fighting (with a real stick and it doesn't feel good), Soccer, baseball, wrestling, karate, pretty much anything that involves fighting.

But the one thing I would really love to learn is gymnastics. I actually bought a pair of gymnastic rings for the basement about 6 months before I started Crossfit. I always wanted to do the iron cross on the rings. I think gymnastics is one of if not the hardest sport out there, and one of the most functional sports. Take a gymnast and throw him or her into any sport and I bet they do pretty well with it.

Jim the gymnast. I like the way that sounds.

I can shake my a** with the best of them buddy. lol. FYI I can hold down my alcohol I just tend to get a little out of control I'll admit. If my memory serves me correctly you weren't Mr. sober yourself. This is war Mr. Crossfit.

Jv, I've heard that same thing before. Gymnasts are able to learn new sports faster than anyone.

Some real fighting words from some..what looks to be..beer pong champs. I say we have 2 teams for Flip Cup, losing team has to do 10 burpees or 10 push ups. The other team can make the call. Its like combining drink/sport/and CF all at one time....I think I'm on to something????
