Not that I should have in the first place with you guys as my coaches, but after watching that last sled push man, I have no reason to ever slow down or quit a wod ever again

There is never a dull moment with my husband. He deals with me on a daily basis so that sled was probably easier. I think I will have him walk around with a vest on all the time as training for next year!
Great weekend everyone! ALL of you put it out there and worked your asses off without question, I really appreciate everything all of you did, it's not just the workouts either, you all go above and beyond, there was not one time this weekend that someone wasn't asking me if I needed anything! My kids love you guys and I know why this is our life!
Thanks for the support from home too,we couldn't do it without you!!
There will be a question and answer portion today after each session today!

I am sure Kevin will have things to say on his own, but speaking for myself, this was THE most amazing experience of my life. I feel very blessed and SO thankful to have had been given the opportunity to be in that environment and even more moving was the people that I went with. I saw in our teams not only fantastic competitors but I walked away with some great friendships. I was truly inspired. I took something from everyone this weekend and learned more than I can put into words. What a great weekend. I am SO proud of everyone. I have something to say to everyone, but instead of taking up the blog, I will tell you directly when I see you!

Mark, you are a warrior.

Although I never comment on the blog, I don’t know if I can say it any better than what’s already been said, and words could never do this weekend justice, I’d be remiss if I didn’t say a few things.

While watching the CrossFit thoroughbreds (e.g., Rob Orlando throwing 300lbs over his head for THREE reps) was mind-blowing, there was no single performance more inspiring or more impressive than those of my teammates:

Malecki, Brett, Jen and Leanna: You are all true gamers that came prepared for battle. You redefined confidence, welcomed every challenge and never once flinched.

Joe: While it seems that you are often the butt of a joke concerning your sense of style or grooming (or lack thereof), what you showed me was a maturity and level of integrity that is far beyond your years and extends well beyond your athletic performance. With that foundation and your mad skills, the sky is the limit. BTW, I heard that the street value of Progenex doubled after this weekend . . .

Sammy: Wow. While I was too busy to realize it at the time, your performance in the second WOD was nothing short of insane. Injury and all, you rowed with unparalleled strength and grace … and fast as sh*t too.

Michelle: Talk about conquering your demons. As if it wasn’t amazing enough to watch you transform from the metcon master to powerlifting queen, the barefoot sled run was the icing on the cake. You are officially bad a**.

Kevin M said...

Kristi: You were THE ROCK this weekend. Whenever things got tough, you held us together and never, ever let up. Unfortunately for you, I think we have all come to expect greatness in your performance and may take you for granted. That being said, you exceeded those expectations.

Nick: While Mark may have needed medical attention, your effort was no less valiant. To say you stepped it up with NOTHING in the tank is an understatement. In a word (and with no pun intended) – CLUTCH! You are a fearless leader, incredible coach and great friend. And I can’t help but think that, had you been healthy, you would be making flight arrangements for Aromas.

Mark: Geezus, dude! I’m still speechless. I wish that everyone could have had the experience of being on that battlefield with you. Had they had that privilege and honor, they would all know what I will never forget – whenever you think you have nothing left to give, you do; whenever you think it’s over, it’s not; and whenever you want something, you go after it relentlessly and without reservation. And you did it all with such a great sense of humor – especially the part where you took off the weight vest and jokingly told the judge that you were done as I pushed that F***ing sled down the asphalt. As you may have gathered, Maria is a little concerned about our bromance, and rightfully so. For me, it was love at first sight and this weekend made me fall in love all over again. To use your words, you are a TREMENDOUS coach, athlete, friend, husband and father.

Maria: At the risk of continuing to exploit this blog as our own personal forum for romance and affection, you are my world and my hero. I look forward to being your teammate for the rest of my life.

Stacey: While I met you in person for the first time only a week ago, there is no doubt why are you the most-respected member of the OTG/Off The Grid team and the backbone of our community and family.

The Little Sabers: You guys rock … hard. The good news for you is whether you model yourselves after mom or dad, you can’t go wrong.

Steven, Dan, Jax and Jen’s Parents: It’s all been said already, but thank you so much. Great pit crew, support staff and cheering squad.

To the rest of the box: I will take the liberty of speaking for Maria and myself in saying that OTG/Off The Grid represents everything we expected a CF community to be and then some. I am proud to be a part of it and urge all of you to continue to aid Nick and Mark in their tireless efforts to make it bigger and better.

There is no doubt that the planets aligned to allow me to participate this weekend and I am eternally grateful for the opportunity. I apologize for the rant. Now, back to business.

so i am actually going to comment on the blog for probably the second time ever. this weekend was a great experience and a ton of fun. it was my first competition and i couln't have asked to go with a better crew. everyone was so supportive and put their best efforts in to each workout. that prowler was the death of me. tons of memories and stories from the weekend that i wouldn't trade for the world. thanks nick and mark for believing in me and letting me go even when i questions your decisions of putting me on the team. you guys are the best and like family!

i have never been more inspired then from this weekend. everyone did an amazing job.

sammy your row was insane and i aspire to be better at mine!

What did I miss?

Steve C said...

Seriously though, you guys are all an inspiration. I can only hope I am lucky enough to compete next to you some day. It would be my honor.

Stacey said...

Steve you are too funny! No blog access all day, that was probably a little tough!

Mark said...

Wow, I'm at a loss for words...I really appreciate all the support and well wishes from everyone...it means a lot to me...

The weekend was amazing and the effort of EVERYONE that competed was inspiring, to say the least...

Kevin did an amazing job describing the weekend, so I don't think I can add anything on that end!

What I will say is that there are bonds made in the strangest places...when 4 people get together, and put it all on the line for ONE common goal, that can be a powerful thing. The "team" workout is something truly special, and it's something that I hope all of you get to experience.

I have many stories to tell, and I can't wait to share them with all of you!

Wow, great stories. Following online all weekend, you could never picture what was going on up there.

Inspirational is an understatement for what our teams did this weekend and as Joey O said earlier, I now more than ever would never consider quitting or slowing down on a WOD. If I had read the blog earlier today I may have gotten 10 rounds today instead of the 8. All of the competitors really make me want to get better. I would love to be considered for a team next year but we have some stiff competition in our 2 boxes and I have a long way to go.

Many of us rarely get to see our coaches train or do the WODs that they yell at us to finish or do faster and I would be lying if I said I never had an "FU, let me see you do it" running thru my head but I promise that will never happen again. It is very clear, Mark and Nick, your competitiveness, courage, camaraderie, and determination is unmatched and gives everyone in your boxes something to aspire to.

Congrats to all the athletes who competed.

I'm going to go do some burpees in the garage
