"This year, the fight for "World's Fittest Gym" is going to be tougher than ever. There will be open registration for teams at the 13 worldwide Regionals (first come, first served). Only the top several teams from each Regional will be invited to compete in Aromas.
Rules:
At the Regional level, an Affiliate Team must consist of a minimum of four to a maximum of six athletes. The team needs to have a minimum of two men and two women. All members of the team must actively train at the same facility, which does not have to be an official CrossFit affiliate gym.
At the Regional level, all the workouts will be conducted as team workouts with teams of four. Two men and two women will be competing at one time as a team. This will allow team captains or coaches to substitute members prior to an event based on team members' individual strengths and weaknesses.
There is only one team permitted per gym. We recommend having tryouts and competitions within your affiliate to determine your team of four to six athletes. But that is just a recommendation. The team itself qualifies, which means teams that qualify for the Games can make changes to their roster between the Regionals and the Games.
For teams that qualify for the Games, the rules will be slightly different. One key difference is that all teams must send six athletes, three men and three women, to Aromas. A non-participating coach is still optional.
An equal number of team spots and individual spots are allocated to each Regional. For example, if your Regional allocation for individual spots is 4 men and 4 women, there are 8 team spots allocated. Last year's champs, Northwest CrossFit, are prequalified and invited to the Games in Aromas.
There will be no team competition at the Sectional qualifiers. Team registration at the Regional will be open (first come, first served). There will be no open registration for individuals at the Regionals (everyone must qualify). This does not apply to the Master's competition, details of which will be coming shortly."
We'll be announcing tryouts shortly. They will more than likely be held on a Saturday/Sunday. The team members that qualify will be asked to train together as often as possible to develop chemistry and a solid 'team' bond. There is a possibility we will send two teams - one from each facility. Post your intentions and interest to be a part of the OTG Affiliate Teams to comments.

Well it is time to be more active in the "blogging" community.
First, we had Nicks pancakes for breakfast this morning with poached eggs. Pretty good!! It is nice to see easy recipes on the blog. An added benefit----got a right forearm workout mixing the ingredients: )
Second, we plan on going to Philly to cheer on our fellow CF'ers. Anxious to see what a meet is like and how everyone does. Is it an all day gig and do you need to bring your own food and drink???
Third, really enjoyed Saturday's WOD. We got a W by 4 reps ; ) : ) I almost didn't go but am glad that I did!!!! Great group and great fun....
I also tried Nick's pancakes for breakfast also...very good!!! My mom liked them and had one, and my dad said they were alright too!
Startin to get nervous for next weekend, but I'm excited too!!! Can someone help me figure out what I can pack to eat??? I am lost!
Big - Great to see you posting!! Glad to hear you're joining us in cheering on all of our CF'rs!!
Always be prepared to bring food/drink to events - or anywhere for that matter!
Jax - Being nervous is your body's way of preparing for 'battle.' It shuts down all the unnecessary bodily functions in order to activate the one's needed for self-preservation (fight or flight). Being nervous/excited gives you focus and is absolutely essential in getting the most out of your 'experience.' Embrace the feeling and know that it's your body's way of preparing!
If you're hitting Paleo - bring some lean meat (jerky?), fruit, almond butter..If you're zoning - bring all the above and/or peanut butter, protein shake ingredients/protein (or access)bars, avocados..but most importantly bring things you would normally eat.
Glad you both liked the pancakes!
I'm in for the Affiliate try-outs!!
Nothing would make me happier than to try out for, make, and be on the affiliate team but seeing as I'll be leaving before any competitions, I can't commit. I am wondering if it would be possible to still participate in the try out?
Joe's Primal Breakfast Sandwich
"Buns"
3 Whole Eggs
3 Bananas Mashed
1 Heaping Spoonful peanut butter
1 tbsp cinnamon
1 eyedrop vanilla extract
Mash up the bananas and stir in the eggs and peanut butter. Cook like regular pancakes. These are your "buns"
Then fry one or two eggs your choice, and a slice or two of turkey bacon.
Nick,
Have made your pancakes twice already. They were great, really enjoyed and filling. They look like real pancakes too.
Looking forward to the throwdown! And tryouts for affiliate team!
Thanks Nick! I will probably just pack a ton of food that I can snack on throughout the day. I bought an ice pack thing today (I know it's amazing I didn't have one already), but I think that will help me too, now that I can bring stuff that would need a refrigerator!
I guess I will also participate in the try outs for the affiliate team. What the hell!
Can't wait to get back tomorrow...my abs are still TORN UP from Friday's WOD. WHOA!
I'm in for the tryouts !!!
Also, under what WOD was the pancake recipe again?
Thanks ... one week to go OTGer's !!!
