Is there anyone who would like to compete in the upcoming 'Beast of the East' otherwise known as the 'Winter Throwdown'? We already have several athletes going. Some for the experience and atmosphere and others to WIN it!! It's Saturday, January 23rd, 2010. All of the information needed can be found at the link below.

I'm interested and think it would be a cool experience, however... Is there going to be people at my level or are they going to be super crossfitters and I'm going to get slaughtered. I mean, hey I'm still in even if I get slaughtered, you gotta start somewhere:) ha ha
I wanted to take a minute to thank Brett for yesterday, #1 for putting up with me and #2 for letting Jackie and I run:-) You kept us motivated and it was a great workout for a great cause! (oh and thanks for the song:-))
Kristi, I'm not sure how these challeges will be run but I am assuming it will be much like the Mid-Atlantic Hopper Challenge I did in October. It was an amazing experience and I would encourage anyone to go..regardless of your ability level. There will be every kind of athlete there from CF Game Hopeful's to a beginner. At the Hopper half the girls had to scale the 3rd wod of the day. Of course if you scale you can't finish ahead of girls that didn't scale, but I would encourage you to go for the experience. I think anyone that competes at events like this will improve at cf no matter how much they had to scale the wods.
I'm looking forward to seeing as many of you compete as possible this year!
When I competed in the NEQ, it was for the experience of being around like-minded people from all over the Northeast, as well as my fellow OTG'ers competing in the trenches with me. I had a blast and don't regret a second of it...not to mention I was only 85 or so places away from qualifying! LOL!
I'm excited about my new role this season as "coach"...I can't wait!!!!
Kristi - def do it!!
Those of you who are on the fence or are intimidated by the prospect of competition:
This is what CrossFit is all about - Fitness as Sport. Take the leap!! Sure, it's nerve racking, but you'll grow as a person and will appreciate your community that much more! This is a win-win situation for all of you. There's 150 spots - 75 men and 75 women..Sign up NOW!!
It's our intention for all of you to experience CrossFit outside of our two boxes. This is the best way to do that - regardless of your fitness level.
Nice out - "coach".....lol
Ok...so I waited to see who posted because part of me really wants to try this. The other part of me wants to go to cheer people on.
I know I have to scale. But, will I look like an ass at the levels I have to scale since there's only 75 spots available? I don't want to take a spot from someone who can go for "glory" and didn't get in because I entered.
Coach & Nick, help me out here. I'm definitely doing the road trip no matter what. I've got my permission slip and I'm on the bus sittin' in the rowdy section.
Go for it Michelle! These local Challenges where anyone can compete is what it's all about! And you have every right to enter...no matter what level you "think" you're at! Imagine the first two Games...anyone could enter!
You too Kristi! You Kill it!
Thanks for the push Leanna, Nick and Mark
Okay, guess there is no turning back. Signed up, others better follow in suit... Michelle, Leanna...
