Chuck Norris once broke the land speed record, on a bicycle missing its chain and back wheel...

whoa whoa whoa old man river...

An old man once started a rumor that Chuck Norris was dead, Chuck Norris appeared almost instantly and rather than taking a roundhouse kick to the face, the old man took his own life, knowing it would be less painful than the asswhooping about to be dealt to him. Chuck then proceeded to roundhouse the man anyway.

Weaknesses...

Handstand Pushups....one movement very few of us can consider a strength. I know its a weakpoint for me. The question is how do you (or how can I ) go from being weak at HSPU's to really damn good at them?

For those who can't complete a HSPU RX'd, how would you train to be able to get your first? What progressions would you work with?

My answer revolves around greasing the groove, but what do you think?

I like the box progression we use at the gym. I'm all for a progression. Just like anything else, if you work your way up from the bottom you're bound to get the end result in due time. Such as going from pvc to weight in say an overhead squat.

I'm a big fan of going right to the movement and working it from there. As far as HSPU I just do them rx'd. I don't have a lot of ROM yet but the more I work them from that position the better I get. I find if I use a progression on this movement I take longer to get where I want to be. But this is just me.

Oh, and this is definitely a weakness.... but not for long. Ahhh Yaaa!!!!

A rest day isn't always a rest day. The boys are down in EHT working hard to get it done. They are installing the white board walls, fixing up the reception area where the clients will be signing in. The flooring is done and besides being dirty it looks great. We can't wait for everyone to see it!

I like to use the bands for HSPU's it helps you get a feel on full range of motion. It's a little awkward (not as bad as being in the bands for the MU)(remember that catastrophe) But just like the pull ups you need them less and less.

Have a great rest day!

I agree with the progression point of view. I HATE failing, so with the progression I at least feel as though I am succeeding every step of the way. I have never even attempted a HSPU so I have no idea where I am on those.

Stacy, please post any new pics from EHT as you get them !!!

i think it depends what kind of exercise it is youre doing. i usually like going right into the exercise and going from there, like a HSPU.

but for example, i agree with joe, overhead squats i felt like the progression was the best way to go because of flexibilty and that i have never held weight over my head in that position before.

Hey B, I know it's strange, but wouldn't Body Weight presses, especially partial reps (you don't HSPU past your nose) help you build strength? You can then grease the groove with HSPUs.

I have been doing body weight bench presses, and I have noticed my push-ups improving. Never tried HSPUs.

But sh*t, you'd probably know better than me.

Chuck Norris once impregnated (cleaned it up a bit) a woman by only pointing at her and saying "boo ya!"

BTW, funny this whole thing came up 'cause I just got my bro in law this book and I picked up the Chuck Norris vs Mr. T book, friggin awesome.

As for HSPU's, Justin had a good point and tip to give me last night, do a couple everyday until you get really good at em and then start hitting your max everyday.
