Freak on a leash..

NEQ pics

"Overhead Squats"

100 Overhead Squats for time - 95/65lbs

Be sure to keep those shoulders 'activated' throughout the entire movement.
Hip crease below knee for depth.  Pacing is a pretty tasty option.  Don't gas on your first 25!

Dood, what happened to www.crossfitoffthegrid.com? Did someone forget to pay their internet bill?

Damn! My least favorite movement.

I am going to do the scaled 65lbs, I lost feeling in my hand for a week last time I did these, I want to try and avoid that if I can. Without being in there, I am sure my form will suck too.

Question to all you OTG'ers. If you hit a local gym in addition to OTG, where do you go? I am moving to Bala Cynwyd next month, and need to find a local gym in the Turnersville / Sewell / Glassboro area I can get to. I was thinking Retro Fitness, if only for the price (19.99 per month). Ideally, I would go to OTG full-time, but my schedule precludes that from happening.

Maybe I should suck up the up front cost and get a pullup station, bumpers, and rings. I would be able to do most of the movements from home in my garage.

Paul, not sure if you were made aware that we are going to a full time schedule at the garage hopefully by the end of June...but the earliest class time will be 8am...not sure if that works for you or not...

my kb swing looks tremendous...

Dom, the kittens are dead...get it?

Mark, hahah is this the one where you drop it from overhead and get a timeout? Who's that guy in the 2nd pic? I didn't know arnold does crossfit now?

Mark said...

Joe, I loved every second of dropping that med-ball sized KB from overhead! Hey, she failed to mention that was a no-no...

You will be Arnold if you keep throwing up those kind of numbers...200lb front squat...awesome!

...not sure if I would of put that Helen time out there for all to see...I think Eric beat you...maybe even Dom...and you know how slow those correction's guy's are!

Thanks brother. And wow, definitely didn't push myself hard enough in the run but I had no idea how to gauge it first time around! I'm calling foul on the count of we did the run the night before, then heavy front squats! haha

It's all good...I guess I have to re-do Helen because my KB height is now a cause for speculation...but it was legit at the time.......Brett

Thanks Mark, was not aware. Let me know when the new schedule becomes available, it will DEFINITELY help.

I also have to consider that I have two young studs (ages 9 and 7) that I would love to get into crossfit at somepoint. Are you guys planning anything crossfit kids wise?

Paul, we'll be starting the CKIDs program at the new building in Williamstown...hopefully we'll be fully operational there by the end of August...it'll probably start out as a once a week, half-hour class for the KIDs...my girl's will be there for sure!

...Nick can't wait to coach the youngsters!

Paul, I can tell you that my wife goes to Retro Fitness in Glassboro and she's pretty happy with it. She signed up for 1 on 1 training sesssions and goes on her own.

She and I keep comparing each other's workouts which keeps us both motivated. She also told her trainer that I was doing CrossFit and his response was, "Really? I can't even do that?"

As far as today's WOD, looks like I won't be able to sit on the "throne" for the next two days ... YIPEE !!!

I still officially HATE OHSQ. My weakest movement by far.

I scaled to 65lb, and my time was 12:30 (aweful). My focus was really not time, it was purely form / depth, cause I know I suck at these.

I tried hard to keep my elbows locked out, and hit the right depth on every rep. When my elbows would bend (usually my right arm), I stopped. I found that when my elbows would bend, my shoulder / arm / hand started tingling.

My tip of the day, dump that sh*t. I didn't the one time the weight started drifting back. I should have stepped forward out of it and dumped, I didn't. If that was 95lbs, it would have hurt.

Thanks Mark / Nick, I'll hit you guys up for info on the crossfit kids and the new schedule tomorrow.

Happy with my time today (9:02) but not happy at all with my weight (45lbs - WEAK). I know I have very litte upper-body strength, but that's part of why I'm doing this, right?

Here's a thought for future WODs ... maybe let each member pick a WOD that they liked previously and that's what we do for the day. Then someone else picks the next day. Etc. Just a thought.

Oh HELL NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sure you can pick your own workouts at Retro!

Well I made it down there tonight with a smile from the wife, kind of. I told Mark right off the bat I suck as OHSQ's and I feel like I need a lot of work on them. So I went with a mere 45lbs to work the form aspect of it. Plus I haven't really done these before tonight.

So I finished with 11:55 but I think I did pretty good considering. 'll be looking forward to doing them again but next time I'm going heavier.

Paul you nailed it, my wrists were killing me when I finished. But you know my shoulders, traps, and well everything is a bit achy. Tomorrow should be interesting at work.

Peace out,
Jim
