The Art of Negativity

The mere fact that I have to bring this up is a little disheartening. Our "School of Fitness" is a place of teaching, learning, growing and prospering. We accept you into our 'classroom' and fill you with the knowledge and skills you need to excel through movements, workouts, mental barriers, weaknesses, life, etc. The last thing anyone in the 'class' wants to hear is how hard you think the workout is going to be or any other type of complaint. Of course it's hard - it's CrossFit. We were very forth-coming with this message when you started.

This never gets easier. You only get better. You signed up to be challenged. You signed up for accountability. You signed up to be tested both psychologically and physically. You signed up for results. You signed up for Community. You signed up for variety. You signed up for Elite Fitness. You signed up for CrossFit! You didn't sign up for - I can't, won't, don't or any other negative contraction you can think of.

Suck it up and get the work done. Focus on acceptance rather than resistance. Embrace the coach's decision to push you harder, further, longer. They have the confidence in your ability, technique, skill, development, strength, etc that you lack.

If you're within earshot of negativity, it's your responsibility to disrupt their thought process and promptly supply it with positivity. We're surrounded by negativity in the newspapers, tv, internet, friend's and family's old negative thought patterns, etc. Negativity is contagious, but so is Positivity. What do you want in your "School?" You can, will and do anything you set your mind to.

So, 'The Art of Negativity' is a lost art - and let's keep it that way!

Looking forward to making your health, wellness, and fitness everything you've always wanted them to be. Get Some!

The Gift

had a blast over the weekend, there is not better way to spend the day then with friends and meeting new ones. Pj, your brother is great, for him to smash the second wod and then stay to cheer me on meant the world, but that's whats good about crossfit, we all know what it feels like.
it was great, at points all I heard was Joey O screaming for me to grab the bar... it helped.
hope to see u guys tonightt, it's time to turn up the training.
I do get negitive but its usually in my head or when no one is around except for the coaches. Something I have to work on but I do love this shi*

What I wouldn't give to have the Crossfit family push me harder, encourage me to keep moving on, support me when I'm weak, laugh when I laugh and cry when I cry... there is no place for negativity in Crossfit and one would only realize that once it's gone. You paid for it--so love it!! See you soon. Miss you!!

OTG allows us to go outside the box of everday life. It's a feeling of a secret society of pure physical and mental health that others cannot understand. Each day, we battle those who judge others and make excuses why it cannot be done. AT OTG, the positive energy for each other makes us stronger.

I wish I could give everyone a specific recipe for the chicken salad but it's really whatever taste suits you. I like to cook boneless skinless chicken (crock pot, bake or simmer in stock) or you can get a precooked chicken, then shred it.

So we did:
chicken
red grapes
granny smith apples
celery
toasted walnuts

Mixture: (all to your taste)
mayo
lemon juice
apple cider vinegar
balsamic vinegar
garlic
ground mustard
salt
pepper

Combine mixture in small bowl then toss into the chicken mixture.

If you want you can sub plain yogurt for the mayo too.

I am glad everyone liked it!!

And that, my friends, is why I like Nick DiMatteo. We need a bottle of Y.B.F. in the gym for the whiners.

Stacey, thanks for posting the chicken salad. I'm gonna try it, but I don't cook and don't see it coming out any where close to yours, but I'm gonna try.

Great workout at 6 in W'town. With the spring like conditions got to slam the SDHP in the driveway. Rx'd the ring dips for the first time. Took long but glad I did. Needed to break threw that barrier. Energy was high as usual with this crew @ 6. Great job ThrowDown contestants and spectators. All the blogs were very inspirational. Looking for a great "quote" for next blog....
